Recruitment for Open Care in Västerås City

The city of Västerås has removed the personal letter from the application process. We do this to achieve a better and fairer recruitment process. When you submit your application, you will be asked to answer a number of questions that will be an important part of our selection work.

With us in open care, you will build relationships with young people and their families in challenging life situations - together with dedicated colleagues in a supportive and developing work environment. We are proud of our qualified psychosocial treatment work and the broad competence that exists within the unit.

Your Responsibilities

The youth team's work focuses on young people who are in the risk area for norm-breaking behavior and crime or who are already involved in crime. The work is varied and includes family treatment interventions, such as family conversations and individual sessions, support and treatment for parents and youth. We also enforce sentences such as youth service and youth care, and we offer mediation in cases of crime. You primarily work independently, but can also work in a team around the youth and family, for example in a social intervention group (SIG). Motivational work is a central part of the role. You need to be able to shape and adapt your treatment work based on the needs you see according to the work model RBM (risk, needs, responsiveness).

Your Competence

You have previous experience in psychosocial work with young people with norm-breaking behavior and find it easy to create a professional and trusting contact with children, youth, their families, and various partners. It is advantageous if you have worked with treatment interventions aimed at children, youth, and families. We also view positively if you have knowledge of RBM (risk, needs, responsiveness), or have training in relevant methods such as CBT, social learning theory, or family work. You have an academic education in, for example, social work, behavioral science, or another equivalent field. If you also have good knowledge of the Social Services Act and other relevant legislation in the area, it is an advantage.

You are skilled at adapting your approach to different needs and situations, and have a natural ability to create safety and build trust. Your perseverance and flexibility allow you to support families in their change processes in a responsive and respectful manner.

You express yourself well in Swedish, both orally and in writing. It is advantageous if you also master other languages.

Since home visits and meetings with partners are part of the work, a B driver's license is a requirement.

We Offer

Open care youth is part of the Individual and Family Administration and is one of three open care units for children, youth, and their families. Within open care for children and youth, we have both broad and deep knowledge in psychosocial change work and work to strengthen children, youth, and families often in difficult life situations. We are a good team with a high ceiling and we often bounce ideas off each other.

With us, you will work with meaningful treatment work in an organization where trust, collaboration, and participation are central. You will have great freedom to work with young people and families to set up treatment and change work with support from research and proven experience. There is an opportunity for supervision and continuous professional development - both individually and together in the workgroup.

Here you will become part of something bigger! With warmth and respect, we show initiative in the big and the small. We live our values in our interactions with each other and those we are here for. Every day, all year round, we ensure that Västerås functions. Together with your approximately 11,500 colleagues throughout the city, you will have Sweden's most important job.
